Guilty As Sin: Future history

25/01/13  ||  gk

4th album in as many years from this strange American band and they continue to be weird and difficult to pin down. Groove thrash, punk, space rock, electronics, jazz and industrial all sit together on this album and it makes for a mostly distracting listen. Also, the muddy production doesn’t help the music at all. I wish this band would just focus on a couple of styles and a better production because when they get it right, they’re pretty interesting. It’s just that there’s just too much stuff happening. Still, this is easily the band’s best outing so far and the myriad styles and experiments pay off to some extent.

6.5/10: An interesting racket but with limited appeal.
